SIMON
KINGMAN
GUITARIST, VOCALIST
Welsh born guitarist and composer, works in many genres of music from Latin to Jazz and American, and from Blues to Funk and Soul. Equally at home playing Acoustic Finger-style or single note improvisation.
Simon is currently a member of the highly acclaimed band Zervas and Pepper www.zervasandpepper.com but is also in demand playing with various other Artists in the UK and in Europe.
Simon co-wrote the album Melopark with the ‘Kosheen’ hit vocalist and songwriter Sian Evans www.sian-evans.com/melopark/ . He also works regularly all over the world with various bands including Sian Evans and The Pepper Seeds.
Recent tours include, UK, USA, India, Italy, Germany and the UAE. Supported Deacon Blue with Zervas and Pepper in 2014 and performed at six of the 2015 Grand Prix’ with Sian Evans.
Simon is currently working on a new band project concentrating on his first love of Blues and Soul Jazz. His influences include Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, BB King, Grant Green, George Benson and in recent years, Matt Scofield, Josh Smith and Eric Gales.
Simon is a regular contributor to Guitarist Magazine and currently holds a University post delivering the BMus in Contemporary Music Performance at University of South Wales where he specialises in Guitar studies and Music Entrepreneurship. His Music Entrepreneurship credentials were attained setting up and running the cult Live Music Venue and Musicians hangout The Toucan Club in Cardiff 1996-2006.

The King Custom was built for Simon Kingman, this being his second build by California Artist Guitars.

Body is Swamp Ash finished in aged white over aged gold , this is loaded with Joce Dominger slightly moded Golden Gate pickups made specially for Simon, this is all wax cloth CTS Grigsby custom built loom by Bucky at Tonequest Engineering.
Bridge is vintage spec with brass barrel saddles, control plate and knobs are nickel finish. -
The neck is matched to the body custom made using maple and Brazilian Rosewood all cut and profiled to vintage 60s specification with rolled fret board edges, tuners are vintage split pole nickel.

The guitar is aged and hardware also hand aged in house.

And what does Simon think...?"I've owned some very nice Tele's but was thrilled when California Artist built me the King Custom. As soon as I opened the case the finish and subtly aged hardware just shouted quality. In terms of playability Michael does it every time, this thing fits me like a glove from the stunning Brazilian rosewood board to the lightweight Ash body, perfectly balanced, I've hardly put it down since I got it. Also I must mention the hand wound custom Dominger pickups, wow! Joce Dominger has a real talent, providing me with the ideal pickup set, this thing does jazz on the neck pickup and screams on the bridge just how I like it but still remains 100% T with both pickups perfectly balanced Thanks again Michael, she's a beaut!
